Put Your Car in Drive

2 04 2009

Now that you have made your vision boards and mapped out your plan toward getting to your prize, it is time to Put Your Car in Drive.  It is time to actually work on the task(s) you have laid out for yourself to get there as after all….

“..faith without works is dead”

 – James 2:20

So you must do the work if you want to actually see your vision manifest in your life.  What’s the point in having a vision and making a plan if you are not going to work the plan?  It’s kind of like a person praying for a job, they keep praying and praying but they never send out a resume.  How do you expect anything to happen if you do absolutely nothing toward getting there?!  In order to Put Your Car in Drive, this is the time that we need what I call the 3 P’s – to Perform, Pursue & Persist.

To PERFORM! It is time to take action.  To START NOW! It’s like actors in a play who have been rehearsing and rehearsing and now it’s time to get yo’ butt out there on that stage and PERFORM!  It is this momentum of movement that will set the wheels in motion not just for the 1st destination, but for all of the stops you must make along the way to get to your prize.  After all, you will get absolutely NO where sitting idle.

To PURSUE!  You must stay focused, strive for, seek after and devote yourself to the realization of your dream!  You must be aggressive and get on the road toward making it happen!  How do you expect to get there if you never put your car in gear and step on the gas!!  So ladies….it’s time to put some lead on it!

To PERSIST!  You must be resolute and insistent in pressing toward your goal.  You have got to hang in there and let nothing deter you or stop you from your goal.  You must be determined, unshakable and unmovable in the pursuit of your vision!  Persistence and commitment are absolutely necessary to achieve anything in life!

These 3 P’s are actually what it will take to Put Your Car in Drive so that you actually begin to move in the direction of your prize.

You know all this talk about Putting Your Car in Drive makes me think of something my mother used to say to me when I was little.  She used to always tell me that “actions speak louder than words” and I never quite understood what she meant until I was old enough to begin to see these words take action in my own life. So what my mother was trying to teach me was that we can talk about something until we are blue in the face but unless we are actually doing something to make it happen, our words mean absolutely nothing!!  Ya know what else my mother used to say….”talk is cheap, actions speak! Just thinking of those words (I am sure many of you have heard these sayings too), it also makes me think of the following bible verse.

“By their fruits you will know them”

 – Matthew 5:20

What fruit do you bear?  This goes right back to our conversation a few weeks back of seed time and harvest and ladies you each planted the seed of your prize a few weeks ago as you wrote the vision. Now is the time to Perform, Pursue and Persist in the watering which is a call to act!  It is a call to let your actions speak the realization of your prize in your life.  That is what I mean when I say Put Your Car in DRIVE!  So get out there and DO IT!  Put those wheels in motion and begin to move in the direction of your prize! The question for you this week is, “what will gas that engine to get you started?”

“Even if you are on the right track,

you’ll get run over if you just sit there.”

~Will Rogers

“Either move or be moved.”

~Colin Powell

“Trust only movement.

Life happens at the level of events, not of words.

Trust movement.”

~Alfred Adler

“Action is the last resource of those who know not how to dream.”

~Oscar Wilde
