You Gots to Chill

17 06 2010

One of my favorite songs from the 90’s was called  “You Gots to Chill” by EPMD and the opening line of the song is ;

Relax your mind let your conscience be free”

This line perfectly sums up our discussion over the last month about patience.  It really IS learning to relax your mind and let your conscious be free.  Free to stand still and not worry, stress, be anxious or concerned about the things that you cannot see happening in your life.  It is learning to lean on God and to learn to persevere, to accept and the art of letting go. To in essence, surrender to the fact that we actually have no control. We cannot control situations or circumstance, we cannot control how people act nor can we control the decisions they make. Instead of fighting “what is,” we must learn to find peace with “what is.”  We must learn to enjoy where we are on the way to where we are going.  Knowing that the only thing we can control is how we feel.  Our choice is if we will be sad and depressed or to find the patience which will give us a feeling of deeper trust of what is to come?   To trust what is meant to be shall be,  as we hold onto a more positive outlook about anything that comes our way.

 I believe this is part of what was described as a good wife or I would even venture to say good woman in Proverbs 31 when it said;

 “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” – Proverbs 31:25

When I think of strength, I think of the saying patience is power.  The power to find peace and trust God even when ya don’t feel like it.   When I think of dignity, I think of someone regal like a queen and when I  think of a queen I think of someone that always holds her head up high as if nothing can touch her. She is a woman that gives and receives respect and never lets her guard down.  These thoughts on strength and dignity totally help me to realize why a good woman can smile at her future which is because she know who holds it, GOD!  And with God on our side, what the heck do we have to worry about!!  So as we depart our talk over the last weeks about patience, think of patience coming from that inner strength.  That inner strength as a muscle you can build, like working out as you grow closer and closer to God as you learn to trust that, “all things work together for the good.”   The questions to ponder as we leave this discussion on patience are…. When you are in a situation when ya don’t know what to do, how do you find the patience to stand still and see God do His thang? How do you sit back and relax and just chill, knowing things are not in your control?  Ladies we all must learn to Relax your mind let your conscience be free ….You Got’s to Chill!

 A strong woman works out every day
to keep her body in shape…
but a woman of strength kneels in prayer
to keep her soul in shape…

A strong woman isn’t afraid of anything…
but a woman of strength shows
courage in the midst of her fear…

A strong woman won’t let anyone
get the best of her…
but a woman of strength gives
the best of her to everyone…

A strong woman makes mistakes and
avoids the same in the future…
a woman of strength realizes
life’s mistakes can also be God’s
blessings and capitalizes on them…

A strong woman walks sure footedly…
but a woman of strength knows God will
catch her when she falls…

A strong woman wears the look of
confidence on her face…
but a woman of strength wears grace…

A strong woman has faith that
she is strong enough for the journey…
but a woman of strength has faith
that it is in the journey
that she will become strong…
