I Got My Pearls!

9 12 2010

We started this year with a quest to build a string of pearls.   A string of pearls is more than just something that is worn.  For many, receiving their first set of pearls is a sign of the transition as pearls are given to young women as they graduate from high school, as they become debutantes, as they transition from youth into womanhood.  For our Imai Life Transformations village, our string of pearls is something all together different, as it marks for us the cultivation of becoming a woman after God’s own heart.

As we discussed back in January, cultivated pearls are harvested and formed through an irritant that is purposefully embedded in them, this is done in order to polish them and allow them to shine!  I believe that we are each God’s own precious pearls and all He wants to do is polish each of us so that we too may shine?  If this is the case, then we too must go through a cultivation process and allow Him to clean us up, polish us up, and grow us up so that we can shine.   This is the inward transformation from being a babe in Christ to becoming a woman’s after God’s own heart.  Well we really can’t appropriately go through our own cultivation process or shall I say foster our own growth without developing the fruits of the spirit = the Holy Spirit.  The fruit of the spirit really speaks to a cultivation of self. God gives each of us gifts but it is in developing the fruit that we fully can flourish in our gifts. It is this work of transformations and improvement that allow us to become the woman we were destined to be.

So it is the fruit that goes hand in hand with our gift that allows us to become that precious pearl.  Over the course of this year we have delved into each pearl we need to fully develop as we explored;

Pearl # 1. Love  without limit

Pearl # 2.  unspeakable Joy

Pearl # 3. Peace to stay calm in the midst of the storm.

Pearl # 4. Patience  or to be anxious for nothing

Pearl # 5. Kindness to give and not expect to receive

Pearl # 6. Goodness which constantly seeks what is good

Pearl # 7. The Faithfulness to trust

Pearl # 8. Gentleness or meekness which does not seek power or control

Pearl # 9. To have the Self-Control to do the right thing

So now that we have fully explored every pearls, it’s not just about putting them around our neck so others can see the pearls, it’s about living these pearls in action in all we do every day.

Think of it like this…..

“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces”  – Matthew 7:6

So what will you do with your string of pearls from this point forward?  Will you be a pearl shinning for the world to see or a pig that slops and rolls around in the mud all day?  Will you be positive or negative in any given situation?  Will you look on the brighter side of things or stay focused on the darkness?  Will you choose to live by fear or faith?  Will you be Emancipated or Incarcerated by who you used to be?  Fearful or Faithful of where you are headed?  Will you be chained or free to be the woman you were created to be?  All these questions are all about choice.  So what choice will you make for yourself?

As we end our topic for 2010 It is DEFINITELY time ladies to make the choice.  Will you believe and receive or doubt and do without?  If your choice is to believe from this day forward,  it is time to work toward becoming the woman you were born to be!  To believe and receive and to make a commitment and a promise to yourself to work each day to live out the fruits of the sprit! When you do that is when you can say I GOT MY PEARLS!

“Excellence is not a singular act, but a habit.  You are what you repeatedly do.” – Shaquille O’Neal

“You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.” – James D. Miles

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they come character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.” – Unknown

“Reputation is the shadow. Character is the tree” – Abraham Lincoln

“Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character” – Albert Einstein

Stay tuned for the announcement of our 2011 topic next week 🙂
