The Balancing Act

24 03 2011

As each of us focuses on becoming our own Divine Design for 2011 with Proverbs 31: 10-31 as our blueprint.  Today we begin our look at our 4th key toward getting there which is– Getting Your Money Right!

As we continue to work toward our Divine Design for 2011 it is oh so important for us to stop for a moment and get our money right!  Looking at finances from the perspective of the Proverbs 31 woman let’s start with this;

“She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms.” – Proverbs 31:17

It is interesting that if you look at the bible verse before this one and after this one, they both are talking about finances (we will cover both in next two weeks) so when I read this verse it means to me that the strength of a woman’s finances is really balancing it all.  If you really think about it I am sure you will be surprised how much money you waist every month.  So in order to get our money right we must:

  1. Work from a budget.  If you don’t have a monthly budget, it is time you make one!  See my book website at www.DefineYourOwnWay.org where you can download a template from my forms in the book you can use.
  2. Balance your checkbook!  I know many of us use our check cards these days but it is still important for us to balance what is coming in and going out. That way we don’t start bouncing stuff we thought we had and we really didn’t.
  3. Read your monthly bank statement.  This allows you to make sure all is in alignment with how you have spent as well as balanced it all.

Just doing these few simple things will bring strength to your finances and allow you to get your money right.  That indeed is what is called the balancing act.

 “Procrastination is like a credit card: it’s a lot of fun until you get the bill.” – Christopher Parker

 “Life was a lot simpler when what we honored was father and mother rather than all major credit cards.” – Robert Orben
