Why Are You Here?

12 05 2011

As each of us focuses on becoming our own “Divine Design” for 2011 with Proverbs 31: 10-31 as our blueprint.  Today we begin our look at our 6th key toward getting there which is– Purpose!

Finding and defining your purpose is something that we all hear about often these days.  Truthfully I believe that we all were sent here with a special mission and that is why we are blessed with certain characteristics or traits that are uniquely our own.  So it is understanding this, that helps you become just who you were meant to be.   This is a very important component toward our journey of becoming the Proverbs 31 woman.  Why?  Let’s consider this bible verse…

 “She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands.” Proverbs 31:13

This bible verse says way more to me than just the fact that she is buying materials to then make something but really speaks to her work ethic.  She is not waiting for what she needs to come to her, she is out there getting what she needs to make it happen.  She knows what she is here to do and she is doing it.  So my question to you is why are you here?  What were you put on this earth to do?  I believe that when we find this answer for ourselves and we begin to work in our passion and purpose not only do we begin to absolutely love our life but abundance has its way of finding us.  So take out a sheet of paper and write the answer to this question… Why Are You Here?

If you can’t fully answer this question here are a few things to contemplate and answer that may help you define your purpose;

  1. What are you absolutely passionate about?  Are you a great cook, love to do hair, great at number crunching or putting together programs?  What is it that you absolutely LOVE to do?
  2. How can you do this as your career?   How can you make your passion your life’s work?

Once you answer these 2 questions for yourself, you will have defined your calling.  So take out a pen and a piece of paper and begin to become the author of the definition that defines your life.  Take a moment to figure out why you are here.

 People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself.  But the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates.  ~Thomas Szasz, “Personal Conduct,” The Second Sin, 1973

 You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition.  What you’ll discover will be wonderful.  What you’ll discover is yourself.  ~Alan Alda

 The value of identity of course is that so often with it comes purpose.  ~Richard Grant
